Long-term facility offers help to girl declared brain-dead

CALIFORNIA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The California family of a 13-year-old girl declared brain dead is getting some help finding a long-term care facility to house her.

The family of Terri Schiavo is working with Jahi McMath's family.

Schiavo, who suffered brain damage after a heart attack, was the center of a years-long right-to-die struggle that ended in 2005 when her husband took out her feeding tube. Her parents objected.

Jahi McMath was declared brain dead after she went into cardiac arrest following a routine tonsillectomy on December 9th.

The family has been fighting to keep her on life support, but now they must remove her from the children's hospital.
