Big New Year's celebrations

NEW YORK (AP) - Big celebrations have ushered in the new year.

Las Vegas held one its biggest ever New Year's Eve celebrations, with sold-out concerts and an eight-minute long fireworks show that was billed as the largest in the country.

The party leading up to the big ball drop in New York City's Times Square became somewhat of an endurance sport, with people waiting in the cold at least 12 hours with no food or bathrooms.
