Pres. Obama stops off in Maryland on his road trip

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - President Obama is hitting the road Wednesday night, on a two-day trip to promote the economic ideas he proposed in his State of the Union Address Tuesday night.

He's visiting Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Tennessee, but first, the President stopped at a Costco in Maryland.

He is praising the company's CEO for paying his employees above the minimum wage.

President Obama says he's raising the minimum wage for federal contract workers, and is calling on Congress to raise it for all hourly employees.

Republicans say that an increase to the minimum wage will penalize the job creators, which they reason will wind up hurting the economy and costing jobs.
