North Korea releases video of captive missionary

NORTH KOREA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Family and friends are reacting after North Korea released video of an American missionary being held captive.

They say seeing Kenneth Bae on video is heartbreaking, but also reassuring, because he is alive and appears to be in good health.

Armed guards escorted Bae into a room for him to meet with reporters in Pyonyang Monday.

He was arrested in November 2012.

The tour operator and Christian missionary was sentenced to 15-years hard labor, but was sent to a hospital last summer.

In the released video statement Bae apologized for committing - quote "anti-government acts" and said he has not been mistreated while in custody.

The U.S. is working to get him released.
