Report: Americans frustrated with IRS
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A new report shows Americans are frustrated with the IRS.
The report from the National Taxpayer Advocate shows the IRS only responded to 61-percent of taxpayer calls received last year.
And when it came to emails, the agency only responded to less than half.
Things are only getting worse for the tax collection agency. It's budget has been cut by eight percent since 2010 and much of that funding once paid for employee training.
There also about 8,000 fewer full-time workers on staff.
At the same time Congress is demanding more responsibility from the IRS, including administering the Affordable Care Act.
