Michigan woman killed in attack in Afghanistan

AFGHANISTAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - We're learning new information about Friday's deadly attack in Afghanistan.

Twenty-one people were killed after the Taliban attacked a popular restaurant in the Afghan capital of Kabul.

One of those people was Basra Hassan, from Hamtramck, Michigan.

The 59-year-old was in Afghanistan on the behalf of Unicef, working as a nutrition specialist.

Hassan was one of three Americans killed in that attack.

The Taliban claims the attack was in response to an Afghan military operation earlier in the week against insurgents.
