President weighs in on legal marijuana

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - President Obama is sharing his opinion over legal marijuana.

In an interview with "The New Yorker," which will be published next Monday, the president says he does not argue legalizing pot.

He says he believes it less dangerous than alcohol - quote, "in terms of its impact on the individual consumer."

But he says he isn't arguing a campaign for marijuana either.

The president says he smoked it as a youth and says it was a bad idea.

He adds those who think legalizing pot will solve social problems are quote, "probably overstating the case."
