Video shows fight between police officer and firefighter

KANSAS CITY (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Video shot by a cell phone caught a deadly fight between a Kansas City police officer and Kansas City firefighter moments before it turned deadly.

Back on December 1st firefighter Anthony Bruno and his wife got into a fight with a cab driver over cab fare on the night of his wedding.

Officer Don Hubbard was off duty, working security for the Marriott Hotel when he responded to the fight.

Bruno took off and Hubbard chased him, attempting to arrest him.

That's when Bruno fought back as bystanders pleaded with him to stop.

"At the beginning of the situation, we were just thinking, 'oh, cop, calm down. This doesn't need to get out of hand,'" said witness Ashely Janzen.

The officer fired two shots at the center of Bruno's body after he continuously punched him in the head.

CPR was attempted on site, but Bruno was pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier this month, a Jackson County grand jury decided not to pursue charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action against Hubbard.
