U.S. military budget has billions in cuts

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Big changes are coming to the U.S. military.

On Monday, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel laid out his 2015 department budget proposal, which includes billions in cuts.

The plan calls for reducing the Army to between 440,000 and 450,000 troops. That would make it the smallest force since before World War II.

Hagel's budget will be formally proposed to Congress next week.

It is expected to come under heavy criticism from lawmakers
