Winter keeps some goods from reaching NY/NJ ports

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The harsh winter is preventing goods from getting to stores on the east coast.

At the ports of New York and New Jersey, the cold has slowed operations and is causing equipment to malfunction.

A labor shortage is making things worse.

Retailers are saying their deliveries are behind schedule, and truckers say their income is down, since they're having to sit idle at piers for hours.

The Port Authority is in talks to move the cargo to different ports if the back-up can't be resolved.

As the cargo builds up, retailers--including Target, Home Depot, and Lowes all confirm deliveries are behind schedule, and the truckers that are trying to make those deliveries are running on fumes.
