Climate change threatens avocado production

CALIFORNIA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Climate change could have a devastating effect on Mexican food.

Scientists are saying that warmer weather in California will cause avocado production to drop as much as 40 percent in the next 30 years.

They're already scarce right now because of drought in the state.

The burrito chain Chipotle is telling investors that may have to raise prices or remove guacamole from the menu entirely.

Chipotle uses 35-million pounds of avocadoes a year.
