New photos of Cobain suicide scene released

SEATTLE (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Nearly two decades after his death, there are new photos of the scene of Kurt Cobain's suicide at his Seattle home on April 8th, 1994.

The images were found by a Seattle police detective reviewing the case.

Four rolls of undeveloped film were found in some files.

Police have only released two images, both showing drug paraphernalia found in the rock star's home including a heroin kit.

But Seattle police say the images don't change the outcome of the original investigation.

"He killed himself because of the shotgun blast, but the heroin would have did the trick also," said Det. Mike Ciesynski. "I was able to look at the kit. Look at where the suicide note was placed."

It is not clear why the newly discovered rolls of film from the suicide scene remained undeveloped for 20 years.

Police speculate the original investigators may have regarded them as redundant and unnecessary to develop.
