Kids in Texas fight back during carjacking

TEXAS (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A carjacker met his match in a pair of pint-sized attackers in Texas with no intention of being kidnapped.

Lucia Lozada says she'd already gotten her twin 7-year-old sons and 1-year-old baby boy buckled up in their car, ready for church, when she realized she'd left the baby's bottle inside.

As her husband ran inside to get the bottle, a man ran up and jumped in the car and took off--with the kids inside.

Lucia was terrified, but it turns out her boys knew exactly what to do.

"We shouted that we wanted our mommy and daddy," one said.

"I was hitting him with the snake," said the other.

"They got a (toy) snake yesterday at the store," Lucia explained. "I didn't want to buy it for them, but I guess God knew that he was going to use it today."

The thief apparently had enough, because he dropped the kids off in a neighborhood about 10 miles away.

The boys say he told them he didn't want to hurt them, he just wanted the car.

Tonight, the kids are home safe, but the thief is still on the run.

Police are confident they'll catch him, though, because he's well known in the neighborhood.
