Nigerian gov't offers reward for safe return of kidnapped girls

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Nigerian government is offering a reward for information leading to the rescue of hundreds of kidnapped schoolgirls.

The country is offering $300,000, hoping to save the girls from being sold into sex slavery.

U.S. officials are preparing to send diplomats and some troops into the country, but they say there are no plans for military action.

The Islamic extremist group Boko Haram took responsibility for the kidnappings, saying the girls will be sold as wives.

Amnesty International says there's been no sign of them for three weeks, and hoeps of finding them may be running out.
