700 rescued after militants attack airport in Pakistan

KARACHI, Pakistan (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - 700 people have been rescued following a five-hour assault by militants at an airport in Karachi, Pakistan.

The Taliban is now claiming responsibility for the attack saying it was revenge for the killing of a Taliban chief who died in a drone strike last November.

It began late Sunday night when gunmen disguised as police guards stormed the terminal, opening fire with machine guns and a rocket launcher.

Officials say they believe all ten terrorists have been killed.

The Taliban is warning there will be more attacks.
