DNR to hold open house on forest treatment plans
ROSCOMMON, Mich. (AP) - Michigan Natural Resources officials will host an open house and take comments from the public on proposed forest management treatments in Roscommon and Ogemaw counties.
The open house is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the DNR's Roscommon Field Office.
Treatment activities being reviewed this year will begin in 2015. Proposed treatments may include timber harvesting, replanting and other management activities. They are designed to ensure the sustainability of forest resources.
Maps and information on proposed treatments will be available at the open house.
State DNR Forest Resources Division chief Bill O'Neill says the open houses allow people living near the forests and other stakeholders to learn about treatment plans and share their input toward final decisions.
