Orr: Public services improving in Detroit
DETROIT (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Just nine days after a judge gave Detroit the green light to fix itself in bankruptcy, the city's emergency manager says public services are already improving.
Kevyn Orr says police are responding quicker to 911 calls and 26,000 lights have been fixed on the streets.
Orr adds efforts to tear down abandoned homes have been stepped up.
Meanwhile, a private effort is raising $500-million to help the city pay its bills.
But Orr says that still won't prevent pension cuts as the city fixes the $18-billion of debt it's in.
