WIND ADVISORY

10 AM Until 2 AM Saturday

The National Weather Service maintains a WIND ADVISORY for nearly all of West Michigan from 10 AM this morning until 2 AM Saturday morning.  45 mph gusts are likely inland while 50 mph gusts are possible at the Lake Shore.  This kind of wind is capable of bringing down tree branches and creating some power outages.  Obviously, we hope that doesn't happen.  Winds blow from the northwest this morning then from the north by midday and beyond.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather today and always!

NTSB out with report on Mich. crash that killed 4

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A federal investigation found no major mechanical problems in a plane crash that killed the 19-year-old Michigan pilot and three family members.

A recently updated National Transportation Safety Board report says "there was no evidence of pre-impact airframe, power plant or propeller malfunction or failure" in the June crash at Oakland County International Airport.

The single-engine Cessna 172 crashed shortly after takeoff. Killed were the pilot, Troy Brothers; his mother, Sandra Haley; his stepfather, James Haley; and his cousin, Jamie Jose.

The Detroit News reports Monday that Brothers earned his private pilot's license a month earlier.

According to the NTSB, Brothers reported to the control tower "that he was 'a little overweight' and would need to return and land."
