Portage man to plead guilty to stealing from employer

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Portage man accused of stealing $6-million from his employer is heading to court Thursday to plead guilty.

Christopher Pratt will appear before a federal judge in Grand Rapids.

Newschannel 3 was first to report the accusations against him last year.

According to court records Pratt admitted to spending the money buying or leasing more than 50 cars. He also used company checks from Village Market food centers to pay thousands of dollars in credit card bills.

In a plea agreement Pratt said he stole from the south haven based chain over several years.

As part of the deal he is expected to cooperate with authorities in other criminal investigations, which could lead to a shorter sentence.
