ArtPrize 2013 dates announced

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - ArtPrize 2013 is just around the corner and we're get a first look at this year's competition.

The ArtPrize organization just announced deadlines and dates for this year's event.

Venues will be able to register beginning in March. Artists sign up starting April 22nd.

The event itself will take over downtown Grand Rapids on September 18th through October 6th.

New this year the competition is reaching out to artists in the Twin Cities in Minnesota. ArtPrize Pitch Night will offer five thousand dollar grants to help four Artists there bring their work to artprize.

ArtPrize organizers also announced a documentary film which reveals the process of selecting last year's juried grand prize winner.

While most people are familiar with the public vote process, the film will answer questions about how the jury comes to its decision on which piece of art is the competitions finest.

The film will be offered to museums and other non-profits at no cost.
