Suspect in Kentwood murders still fighting extradition

KENTWOOD, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man wanted in connection with the death of an elderly Kentwood couple is fighting extradition back to Michigan.

Javonte Higgins was back in a Chicago courtroom Wednesday, and refused to speak to the judge.

Higgins is wanted out of Wyoming, Mich. on warrants for home invasion and auto theft.

Kentwood Police say he is also the prime suspect in the shooting deaths of David and Vivian Bouwman.

Higgins was arrested in Chicago a few days after the murders.

The judge has set a new hearing date of April 22nd.
