Residents asked to pledge to curb violence
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Thursday leaders in Grand Rapids are asking people to take a pledge to help put an end to violence in the city.
Grand Rapids has seen a large increase in violent crimes recently, including nine murders in just a month's time.
Thursday there is a community meeting where people can pledge to join the "Stop It" initiative.
It includes a commitment to stand together against violence, corruption and other harm to the community.
The meeting begins at 5:00 Thursday night at Gerald R. Ford Middle School.
