Prosecutor: Officer involved shooting justified

IONIA COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Prosecutors say a deadly officer-involved shooting in Ionia County was justified.

Investigators say it started when Bernard Rowley fired shots outside the Belding Police Department on January 5th, shattering the window of a cruiser.

Officers then followed Rowley's van and when he finally stopped he opened fire again.

A 15-year veteran of the department returned fire, killing Rowley.

Prosecutors found the shooting was in self-defense.
