High school graduation rates rise

LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - State education officials say high school graduation rates are on the rise.

According to new data, three out of four Michigan high schools seniors graduated on time last year and there were fewer drop outs.

The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press are reporting that the 2012 graduation rate was 76.2-percent. The year before was 74.3-percent.

The dropout rate for last year's class was 10.7 percent, down from 11 percent in 2011.
