Police chiefs meet in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette will be in Grand Rapids Wednesday speaking at the Michigan Association Chiefs of Police Mid-Winter Training Conference.

Topics at the conference will include the fight against human trafficking and implementing the new VO4 law.

Last year Governor Snyder signed Schuette's proposed VO4 legislation into law. VO4 stands for violent offense, fourth felony.

It establishes a mandatory sentence of at least 25-years for a targeted group of repeat violent offenders who undermine public safety.
