Local group dances to end violence against women

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A local group is trying to end violence against women and girls by dancing.

On Thursday, people in Kalamazoo joined in a global campaign to bring awareness to a growing problem.

According to One Billion Rising, it's estimated that over their lifetimes, one out of every three women on Earth will be beaten or raped.

Men, women, and children gathered in Bronson Park to spread love in the face of violence.

The group danced from Bronson Park down through the Kalamazoo Mall to a dance studio downtown, where the event continued with poetry and more dancing.

Similar demonstrations are going on all over the country.
