Part of W. Mich. plant making infant formula shut down
ZEELAND, Mich. (AP) - Part of a West Michigan plant that makes infant formula has been shut down for cleaning after what was described as an environmental finding of concern.
MLive.com reports that Mead Johnson Nutrition Co. says the finding affected an isolated area of the Zeeland plant. Spokesman Christopher Perille says plant officials discovered the problem during "normal and detailed monitoring" at the facility.
The plant employs more than 300 workers making Enfamil formula. Details of the finding weren't immediately released.
Perille says follow-up environmental testing found "nothing of concern." Most of the plant wasn't affected. Full production will resume later.
