Having fun in a winter wonderland
WEST MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) –The latest round of snowfall is certainly making for a beautiful scene across West Michigan and on Friday Newschannel 3 took to the streets, finding a lot of people enjoying the fresh blanket of winter white.
The heavy snow that started falling on Thursday night created a number of problems on the roadways, but it also brought a true winter wonderland to West Michigan.
With the most recent snowfall, Mother Nature brought in heavy, wet snow, creating a masterpiece of snow painted trees to enjoy. Every branch was outlined with snow, producing breath-taking scenes that some people took advantage of, especially those who didn’t have school on Friday.
At Leila Arboretum in Battle Creek a number of kids got out their sleds and hit the hills.
The recent snow is perfect for packing, making it easy to build up extra ramps on the hills, which made Kyler’s sledding experience, as he said ‘super fun.’
“You go up into the air, and you hit the jump and flip,” said Kyler.
And 8, soon to be 9-year-old Zaria was enjoying her extra day to celebrate her birthday with her sister and mother.
“It’s really cool when you go on the bump,” said Zaria, “and it’s really fun.”
The snow system that came through West Michigan is now combining with another storm system along the east coast.
Areas around Boston and Portland, Maine could see up to two feet of snow.
