Paw Paw woman in court after low-speed chase

PAW PAW, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Paw Paw woman was in court Tuesday, after police say she was driving drunk at three times the legal limit.

Rosalba Garcia was arrested just West of Paw Paw Saturday and records show it is her third drunk driving arrest in a year.

Police say they repeatedly tried to signal her to pull over as she was driving erratically on Red Arrow Highway.  As an officer followed he says Garcia wouldn't stop but also never drove more than 45 miles an hour.

The pursuit went on for two miles until she finally stopped at 41st Street.

Police say Garcia was at three times the legal blood alcohol limit and she was charged for being super drunk.

There was a small dog in the car and police say Garcia's excuse was she didn't stop because she needed to take the dog home.

Garcia was driving with no license, it was suspended when she was convicted of driving super drunk in May.  Then later last year she was again arrested for drunk driving and was waiting to go to trial on that case when this arrest happened.

Van Buren County Judge Robert Hentchell had some strong words for her at her arraignment.

"Ma'am you're just not getting it, you're not getting it, you're bond is going to be cash surety, $25,000," said Hentchell.

Court records show Garcia served just one day in jail after her conviction last year.
