Bee venom could help with HIV cure
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Researchers believe they've discovered a new way to possibly cure HIV, and that possible cure is found in bee venom.
Scientists say a toxin found in bee venom destroys the virus by poking holes in the membrane surrounding HIV cells.
They say this new discovery could be used to create a gel to prevent mothers from spreading the virus to their babies and also lead to treatments for people who already have HIV.
The news of the breakthrough comes just after a 2-year-old was cured of HIV after receiving aggressive treatments just hours after birth.
