U of M Running Club crossing state in 24 hours
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - If you see a group of runners sprinting through Kalamazoo in the wee hours of Sunday morning, don't be alarmed.
The University of Michigan Running Club is running nearly 200 miles across the entire state in less than 24 hours for charity.
More than 50 runners will take off from Detroit around 6am on Saturday.
They will finish their relay at the Lake Michigan shoreline Sunday morning.
In between they'll travel through Ann Arbor, Albion, Battle Creek and Kalamazoo, hitting the Kal-Haven Trail around 1am on Sunday.
The race is relay-style, with each runner logging between 10 and 25 miles over the course of 24 hours.
Run Across Michigan hopes to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Michigan.
