Ionia Co. inmate killed, State Police investigating
IONIA COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Michigan Department of Corrections confirmed Monday the death of an inmate in the Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility.
According to MDOC spokesman Russ Marlan, the victim, identified only as a 56-year-old male serving time for felonious assault and home invasion, was assaulted at around 4:40 a.m. on March 7th.
He was declared dead on March 9th. His name is being withheld, pending family notification.
The name of the suspect is being withheld, pending arraignment.
Michigan State Police are investigating.
