New info on early morning GR fire

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Fire officials have released more information stemming from a duplex fire on 6th Street from early Wednesday morning.

It happened just after 2:30 a.m., when the fire was reported from a house in the 700 block of 6th Street.

When fire personnel arrived on the scene, they found the front porch of the home on fire, and fire in the front of the home as well.

All 11 occupants were reportedly able to exit the structure.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was discovered by an occupant after they were awakened by breaking glass.

At this time the fire remains under investigation.

Initial damage estimates are over $50,000 for property and contents of the home.

No injuries have been reported.
