Ten people hospitalized after van rolls on I-69
CONVIS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) -- Ten people were rushed to the hospital after a violent crash on I-69 in Calhoun County.
Investigators believe icy road conditions are to blame.
The tour van was driving an Amish group from Indiana when it lost control and flipped into the median, throwing at least three people from the van. The injuries Range From minor to serious.
"Everyone received some sort of injury ranging from minor to possible critical. One person was still inside when it was on its top. We're gunna stay busy today," said Deputy Sheriff Matthew Madsen, Calhoun Co. Sheriff's Office.
All of the victims are expected to recover. Investigators were at the scene for hours, snarling traffic.
At least ten other slide-offs were reported on the same stretch of 96.
Newschannel 3 also reached out to the Amish Buggy Line Tours, but they did not return our calls.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office reports the victims names are as follows:
Driver: Sandra Miller
Passengers: Ervin Miller, Clyde Miller, Kenneth Bontrager, Milton Bontrager, Delmar Fry, Willie Yoder, Steven Lambright, Jerry Lehman, and Marvin Eash.
Ages and locations are not being released.
