Troopers: 3-year-old climbed onto dresser to get gun

JACKSON COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An update has come out in the investigation surrounding the death of a 3-year-old Jackson County boy, who accidentally shot himself.

According to MLive, Michigan State Police found that Michael Easter got hold of the gun by climbing on top of a bedroom dresser.

The shooting happened at the family's home last Saturday.

Easter was at home with his mother at the time.

His father was on his way to work at the Sheriff's Department when he got the call.

Both believed the gun was out of reach of the child.
