EPA back to work at Portage Creek
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Environmental Protection Agency is back at work cleaning up contamination in Kalamazoo's Portage Creek.
Starting Tuesday through May 17th the Dutton Street bridge between Portage and Jasper Streets will be closed.
The EPA is isolating a part of the creek and redirecting water around the area where it will then be removed and treated.
Contaminated soil will also be removed and replaced.
The project started in September of 2011. It's part of a larger Superfund clean up that includes the Kalamazoo River.
