Bill would require more school employees to report sexual assaults

LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A new bill is working through the Michigan legislature that will require more people in the state to report instances of sexual assault.

The Michigan House introduced the legislation Thursday.

It would add school employees and people who represent themselves as clergy to those mandated by law to report sex crimes.

Under current law that is done only by school faculty and administrators.

The people behind the bill says it will close loopholes and protect Michigan children.
