Hopkins squad a winner at robotics competition

RICHLAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - We have the results Sunday morning of the FIRST Robotics District Competition at Gull Lake High School this weekend.

It was a unique competition involving teams of students from 40 southwest Michigan high schools and their robots.

Each team was given a kit of common parts and had six weeks to build a robot.

Team 2054, the Tech Vikes, from Hopkins, made up of representatives from General Motors Grand Rapids/Midway Chevrolet of Plainwell/Sebright Products and Hopkins High Schoolers had one of the winning robots, and was awarded the regional winners number one title.

This competition was created to encourage students from Kindergarten through 12th grade to get involved in science and technology.
