Alamo Drafthouse clears another hurdle toward liquor license

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The future Alamo Drafthouse is closer to getting its liquor license.

Wednesday, the Kalamazoo Downtown Development Authority approved the first step of the drafthouse's liquor license.

The Alamo Drafthouse hopes to open this summer, in the spot formerly occupied by the Rave Theater.

The building has been vacant since November 25th.

Alamo Drafthouse is a chain of theaters that will have waiters serving dinner and drinks during movies.

The DDA Board will now send its recommendation to the city.

The DDA says it hopes the city will support it with a formal resolution.
