Two bound over for trial in Briargate meth lab fire

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Two men are headed to trial on meth lab charges, in connection to a fire that damaged a Portage apartment building.

John Shank and Eric Harris were both bound over to Circuit Court to stand trial on charges of operating and maintaining a meth lab.

A fire broke out as a result of the lab at Briargate Apartments in January, forcing 40 people from their homes.

Police believe John Shank, Ryan Diemond and a third man, Eric Harris, were all cooking meth, which caused the fire.

Diemond is also charged with maintaining a drug house.

Tuesday's hearing was to determine if there was enough evidence to send the men to trial.
