Woman accused of causing fatal crash arrested
VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A warrant has been issued for the woman police say caused a fatal crash that killed four people. Officers arrested her shortly after 12:30 Friday afternoon.
We've learned that a warrant was issued Friday morning for the arrest of a 26-year-old woman from Watervliet.
She's facing four counts of operating a motor vehicle with THC in her system, causing death.
That crash killed four woman who were all on their way home from a church event in Hartford.
67-year-old Celeste Phillips of Hartford was driving. 56-year-old Kathryn Maya also died in the crash, she was married to the church pastor. 51-year-old Charlotte Seiber and 56-year-old Lou Ann Holcomb were also killed.
Police say they were all heading home during heavy snowfall when their car was hit by the woman, who missed a stop sign.
The woman is expected to be in court in South Haven sometime Friday afternoon.
We know her identity but are being asked not to reveal it until after she is taken into custody and formally charged.
