Musekgon Co. corrections officers injured in attack
MUSKEGON, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Two Muskegon corrections officers were injured in an incident at the Muskegon County Jail Thursday afternoon.
An inmate, identified as 26-year-old Terry Wesley Raap, allegedly attacked several deputies and injured two officers, who required medical treatment.
The Muskegon County Sheriff's Department reports that Raap fashioned weapons out of plexiglass, which he used as "stabbing devices," along with pieces of concrete in a sock to club deputies.
Sheriff Dean Roesler indicates that the the attack was without warning or provocation.
Raap holds prior felony convictions for resisting or obstructing an officer, and second degree criminal sexual conduct.
He had been on parole when he was charged with operating or maintaining a meth lab in October of 2012.
The officers are listed in stable condition at this time.
An investigation is underway.
