Pow wow celebrates Potawatomi culture
DOWAGIAC, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) Its a traditional time of singing and dancing. The Pokagon band of Potawatomi is celebrating the 28th annual Kee-Boon-Mein-Kaa Pow Wow.
Annual celebration of culture on the Pokagon bands campus at Rodgers Lake in Dowagiac is named for the end of the huckleberry harvest in the Potawatomi language. The harvest is a traditional time of celebration.
There are presentations throughout the weekend on making baskets, bead work and shawl making.
The pow wow lasts through Sunday.
