GVSU removes popular art piece following Miley Cyrus video
ALLENDALE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Grand Valley State University is making national headlines after the school removed a popular piece of art, citing safety reasons.
Grand Valley students have been posting YouTube and Vine videos parodying the Miley Cyrus video "Wrecking Ball."
In the video, Cyrus rides a wrecking ball, apparently naked.
According to the university, the increase in people riding the sculpture has made it unsafe.
GVSU workers found that the cable holding the ball is fraying, and the sculpture has been taken down.
The school says it wants to re-install the piece after an engineer can inspect it and make it safe.
