Republicans threaten government shutdown
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - We could be headed for a government shutdown.
The republicans in control of the House have made it clear.
They do not plan to pass a budget that includes funding for Obamacare.
A key part of the health care overhaul is scheduled to go into effect October first.
That's the same day as the start of the next fiscal year.
House Speaker, John Boehner, has scheduled a vote for tomorrow on a stop-gap funding bill that does not include money for the Affordable Care Act.
However, democrats control the Senate and that bill is unlikely to survive there.
If the two chambers do not reach a compromise, just about every federal agency will be fully or partially shut down after September 30th.
