Settlement conference rescheduled for man accused of beating girlfriend
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man accused of nearly beating his girlfriend to death will not appear in court Friday.
Arthur Payne's court date was rescheduled for November.
Payne was supposed to have a settlement conference Friday.
He was bound over on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, and aggravated domestic violence back in July.
Police say the 41-year-old was on the run for a week after a neighbor found Stephane Janssen lying in a pool of blood in the couple's Oshtemo Township apartment in March.
Payne could face more than a decade behind bars.
