Deputies in Allegan Co. believe deceased man has been ID'd
ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Allgean County Sheriff's Department has followed a tip to a breakthrough in determining the identity of a deceased man.
Deputies say the tip came from a person who had previous dealings with the deceased, and recognized photos released of the tattoos, and the man's physical description.
Following the tip, deputies checked up with photos from the Secretary of State, and other organizations, which they say are consistent with the information from the tipster.
Deputies say they have passed on the information to the morgue at Sparrow Hospital, where they hope to speed up confirmation via fingerprints.
The man's identity is not being released until such time as he can be positively identified and next of kin can be notified, but sources tell Newschannel 3 that it is a 48-year-old man from southwest Michigan.
At this time, deputies say they are uncertain as to how long the process of confirmed identification and notification of family will take.
