Battle Creek officer sentenced for impaired driving
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) A Battle Creek police officer has pleaded guilty to impaired driving in court.
Officer Kevin Stansbery admitted that he was drinking beer and he blew a 0.15 on a breathalyzer test.
Stansbery will have to pay about $800 in court costs/fines and will not have to serve probation. He has been going to counseling over the matter.
Stansbery was arrested on August 31st in Portage. He was off duty at the time.
Portage police say they the officer was driving with a 21-year-old female passenger when they pulled him over on the 6500 block of Westnedge the last Saturday in August while he was heading home.
In the dash cam video Stansbery had trouble walking.
Stansbery has worked for the Battle Creek Police Department for the past 18 years.
A judge said Tuesday that he hopes this decision will make him think twice about drinking and driving in the future.
