Funeral information set for fallen State Trooper
MANISTEE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Funeral information has been set for a fallen Michigan State Trooper, who was shot and killed after a routine traffic stop Monday night.
According to Michigan State Police, visitation for Trooper Paul Butterfield is set for 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Manistee High School.
A funeral service will immediately follow.
Trooper Butterfield, of the Hart post in Mason County, was shot Monday night during a traffic stop.
A driver passing by found him lying on the ground just minutes later, and called 911.
Later that night, police tracked down the suspects' car at a gas station. In the minutes following, there was a shootout involving two suspects. One suspect was wounded. Both were taken into custody.
Trooper Butterfield later died at the hospital.
