Police investigating beating death in GR
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police are trying to crack a murder mystery in Grand Rapids after a woman came home to find her boyfriend beaten to death.
Police say 56-year-old John Dalinger's body was found around 6:45 Wednesday night inside his home on Krislin Street. That's on the city's northeast side.
He was the President and CEO of the Dahlinger Group in Grand Rapids and also sat on the board of Paws with a Cause.
The Communications Manager there says the organization is still struggling to understand.
"Shocked and saddened- shocked by the news, but saddened that this energetic light was extinguished so early, so soon," said Deb Davis of Paws with a Cause.
News of his death has generated conversation across the country. A family friend tells us Dahlinger is the grandson of Henry Ford.
Multiple books have been written naming his father as Ford's illegitimate son, though the Ford family has denied that.
Grand Rapids police are continuing to investigate.
